Thursday night, the University Singers performed for one of the most lively crowds I’ve seen in the two years I’ve been a part of this group. We spent the day in LaPorte, Indiana, home of several cast members and not far from home for a few others. I know we always talk about how well things go, so I think I’ll spice it up a bit this entry; I’m going to mention a few bloopers that happened! One of the songs in our show is entitled “Instant Opera”…for some alumni, that may ring a bell. Well, we use kazoos in the piece and as that time was approaching, I reach into my Officer jacket, and my kazoo is caught. I spend the entire verse fighting with my jacket to get the kazoo out, and it stays put–no kazoo for me. About a minute later, after a vigorous kick-line, we reach a very dramatic statement, and as I thrust my arms out, a button from the sleeve of my jacket gets wrapped up in the fall of fellow cast member Sam Marvel…and it doesn’t want to come loose! We struggle for several seconds with it; every time I move my arm, her head goes with it. Finally, RenĂ© notices the struggle, grabs my jacket and Sam’s fall, and pulls quickly, freeing us. Needless to say, I can’t wait to see the footage of all that happening! Anyone recall some moments like that from other performances?

Hello there!
I attended the concert – and I was blown away. Even though you know about “bloopers” in your show – you all are professional enough to keep a smile on your face and work through it; none of us in the audience saw anything but talent!! My son, Joe, plays trombone in the band, and I was really looking forward to hearing the show. (have to say how proud I am of him!!!) I came to the Christmas performance; one of the best shows I’ve seen. I am also coming to the Spectacular in a couple of weeks – - I know it will be great. Thanks for all your hard work; it really shows, and every one of you are so talented. I’m sure success will follow you.
Good luck at Spectacular!!
