From Muncie to Mainland…

Australia? That’s right. A spin-off of Dr. Carter’s words from Spectacular 41 before going to China. Though I wasn’t part of the group at the time, I was alive and kickin’ in the audience. Anyway, back to why I used his phrase. Due to some wonderfully fair and just decisions by one of my music professors, I am now at Ball State for a whole extra year. Exciting, right? Right…

Anyway, at first I was quite furious as most would be. But then after discussing it with Dr. Carter, he mentioned the possibility of studying abroad, and having become the travel-aholic I’ve become, fell in love with the idea. So, now just 2 weeks after such an idea was concocted, I’m officially signed up to be an “honorary Aussie” during the fall semester of 2008. While there, my courses will include Australian history, Marine Biology, Wildlife Biology, and a few others I’ve yet to select.

What’s even better is that my semester there is shorter than the semester at Ball State, ending mid-November. Now, you may think, “You’re glad your time in Australia is being cut short?” No no no. What this means is that I have some time to schedule other trips to other countries around Australia before heading home. Between this summer in Germany and the Czech Republic and then the fall semester in Australia and other countries yet to be decided, I can’t believe how much of the world I’ve seen within just a year and a half. My list before last summer included places only in the US. Now, by the time I return from Australia, it will read the US, Canada, Paris, Germany, the Czech Republic, Australia, and any other places I may stop on my way home. I just can’t wait!
